SPGCL to Launch Direct to Consumer Brand

Posted: August 2025

To capitalize on the growing demand for health-conscious food products in India, Sri Priyanka Geo Commex Limited (SPGCL) has announced a strategic shift in its domestic agri-oil segment. Traditionally a bulk supplier, the company plans to sell a portion of its refined rice bran oil under its own direct-to-consumer brand name.

Consolidating the “Rice Bowl” Advantage

SPGCL’s manufacturing facility is located in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, a region known as the “rice bowl” of India. This strategic location provides the company with significant logistical and procurement advantages:

  • Easy Access to Raw Materials: Proximity to local rice mills ensures a consistent and cost-effective supply of high-quality rice bran.

  • Operational Efficiency: The company operates a fully automated solvent extraction plant with an annual capacity of 60,000 MT and a physical refinery with a capacity of 15,000 MT.

  • High-Purity Byproducts: In addition to edible oil, the company produces high-purity rice bran fatty acids (99.5%), which are sold to the plastics and rubber industries.

Growth Strategy

Beyond direct-to-consumer branding, SPGCL is actively expanding its business-to-business (B2B) network. The company intends to establish new tie-ups with branded oil manufacturers and animal feed producers to increase capacity utilization at its Nellore plant. These initiatives are aimed at driving revenue growth and long-term sustainability in the competitive Indian edible oil market.
